Childcare & Early Learning in Melville

Childcare & Early Learning in Melville

The Children’s Garden is a small, family-owned early learning service in Melville, created especially for babies and toddlers. With just 33 children each day and an experienced team that includes more than five early childhood teachers, we offer something deliberately different from a large childcare centre.

Our home at 369 Marmion Street has been designed around relationships, meaningful early learning and childhood itself. Children have space to explore our large natural garden, build strong relationships with their teachers and experience an environment where they are genuinely known as individuals.

For families looking for childcare in Melville, we believe choosing an early learning service should be about much more than finding an available place. It should be about finding somewhere you feel completely comfortable leaving your child each morning.

Small by design.

33 children. More than four early childhood teachers. One extraordinary garden.

The Children’s Garden has deliberately remained small. Rather than trying to accommodate as many children as possible, our size allows our teachers to know the children and families around them and build the relationships that are so important during the earliest years of life.

Our teaching team brings together qualified early childhood teachers and experienced educators, giving children access to a depth of knowledge and experience that is unusual in a service of our size.

Small doesn’t mean quiet. Our days are full of projects, conversations, experiments, art, movement, messy play and time outdoors. It simply means those experiences happen in an environment where children don’t disappear into the crowd.

A childhood with room to explore

Our garden is a central part of life at The Children’s Garden. Children have opportunities to be outside throughout the day, exploring natural spaces, getting messy, moving their bodies and discovering the world around them.

We believe young children need more than carefully arranged activities. They need real spaces to investigate, opportunities to take appropriate risks, time to become deeply involved in play and adults who understand when to join in and when to simply let discovery unfold.

From gardens and outdoor play to art, sensory experiences, early literacy, science and imaginative projects, learning at The Children’s Garden is woven through the day rather than confined to a timetable.

Early learning for babies and toddlers

The earliest years deserve exceptional teachers.

Our approach begins with relationships. For babies, that means responsive care, familiar teachers, individual routines and an environment that provides both security and opportunities to explore. As children grow into confident toddlers, their world expands through language, movement, friendships, creativity, problem solving and increasingly independent discovery.

We work closely with families through these changes rather than expecting every child to develop according to an identical timetable.
